Where's the VIN located?

The 17 character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is displayed on the registration certificate. It can also be found on the vehicle itself, either on the compliance plate located in the engine bay or on one of the door posts (where the door latches when it is closed), or on the passenger side windshield.

Full CarHistory Report Details

Included in the report is a PPSR Certificate which will state whether or not a financial encumbrance (money owing) is recorded against the vehicle. If an encumbrance is recorded, the certificate will include details such as the name and address of the interest holder (financier), details of the vehicle recorded on PPSR, the date the interest was recorded on PPSR and the type of interest e.g. lease, hire purchase, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you purchase a vehicle with money owing on it, that debt legally becomes your responsibility.

The report will state if the car has previously been declared as a write-off. Written-off vehicles have generally been damaged to such an extent either due to impact or flood / storm damage that they are deemed uneconomical to repair by an insurance company and subsequently written-off.

The report will indicate if the vehicle's odometer reading is accurate, or if it has been wound back based the known odometer history of the vehicle, gathered from independent third party sources within the automotive industry. It is recommended you review the vehicle's log looks and service history in conjunction with the CarHistory report to determine the accuracy of the vehicle's odometer reading.

The report will state if the car is reported as stolen.

If the vehicle is registered, the report will state the registration plate number, expiry date for the registration and the state in which the vehicle is registered.

This can give you an indication of the number of times the vehicle has been listed for sale.

The VIN is checked against the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries to ensure that it corresponds to a real vehicle. The report will also include details of the car including make, model, series, body, year (first retail date), colour, fuel type, and fuel consumption.

Gives you an indication of what the vehicle type is expected to be worth in the current market.

A price comparison chart will be included to give an indication of where your car sits in the market, compared with reported odometer readings and sale/price listings for similar vehicles.

Included in the report is information on the first sale of the vehicle including buyer type. This will tell you if the vehicle was purchased for private use or non-private use such a taxi, rental car, fleet car etc.

The report will contain the ANCAP five star rating and overall green rating.
